Continental team MILRAM’s Mitja Schlüter will receive the chance to show himself in the professional ranks at the 24th Rothaus RegioTour (UCI Cat. 2.1) from August 20-24. Besides the 22 year-old, hailing from Münster, Germany, two other U23 riders were given a starting slot in the German ProTour Team MILRAM: German Simon Geschke as well as Dutch young promise Arne Hassink.

„It is important to us to support the German Espoir riders, which is why we want to give young talents the chance to prove themselves in the pro ranks as stagiaires,“ said Gerry van Gerwen, General Manager Team MILRAM. „Especially Mitja Schlüter of our MILRAM Continental Team has captured our attention recently and shown that he is a man with perspective. We are eager to see how the young riders will present themselves.”

Mitja Schlüter rides for the Continental Team MILRAM and can look back on a successful 2008 season so far. With a third placing at the U23 Henninger Turm race in Frankfurt, and a respectable 15th at the German Elite Championships in Bochum, the 22 year-old raised expectations.

Simon Geschke of Berlin TSC also produced good results this year on the U23 level. The 22 year-old finished the Grand Prix du Portugal sixth overall, became eighth overall and the Ronde de l’Isard and won the 2nd Scan-Haus-Cup Marlow as well as the 29th U23 Erzgebirgs-Rundfahrt.

Dutchman Arne Hassink of Cyclingteam Jo Piels is also proud of a top podium spot his season as he won the 2008 Dorpenomloop. Moreover, the 23 year-old from Neede nearby the German border scored a third place at the first stage of the Fleche du Sud in Luxemburg.
